Gopher snake

New Mexico has lots of snakes. This one was very long near a camp site at Pinon Recreational Area.

Waterfall at the Cliffs (also closeup of falls) near our park. It was so dry later in the summer (late June) there was no longer any water flow.

Jicarilla Apache Reservation, Dulce, NM

The Apache Center at Dulce had beautiful exhibits in the lobby and halls.

A drive provided us with views of many beautiful rock formations.

Our RV faces west so there were many beautiful sunsets including this one with the storm clouds gathering.

May 2011 Snowfall in the northern New Mexico Area

Our first visitors . . . so glad to see Lois and Frank.

We have five Osprey nest built on top of utility poles . . with families in each. The area has lots of deer and elk as well as many different birds. Of course New Mexico has lots of snakes . . . this one is a non-poisonous one that looks like a coral.

The water from Heron Lake (green) merge with the Rio Chama (brown)then flow south to El Vado Lake. These waters will eventually flow into the Rio Grande. Just a note we found interesting . . . Heron Lake water comes from the west side of the Continental Divide. A tunnel was built in the early 70's which allows water to flow into Willow Creek then in the Lake.
