Francis is checking out the second flat tire. This one wasn't as bad (would hold air for about 3 miles) but we had no more spares. We had only seen about 3 vehicles since we left the pavement but thank goodness Sol and Sylvia were out scouting for elk. They followed us back to Beaverhead where we left the car in the Forest Service compound. Had to make several stops to pump up the tire with the 12V pump. Loaded the two damaged tires and us in their truck and headed for Elephant Butte.
