Area sites

As part of our responsibilities we patrol several BLM sites near the Wild River National Recreation Area

Manby Hot Springs are located near this area of the Rio Grande River approx. 1/2 mile down.

Two pictures above are the Red River near the Red River Fish Hatchery.  The confluence of the Red and the Rio Grande is below the La Junta Point overlook.

The John Dunn Bridge is located south of our area at Arroyo Hondo.  This is a popular fishing location as well as a take-out point for rafters coming down the Rio Grande.

Kites

A retired art teacher from NM State came into the area to work with area elementary age children.  This study of the wind was accomplished by use of kites they built.IMG_3322

Santa Cruz

April 30, 2012 we traveled to the Santa Cruz Lake BLM facility.

Along the way the snow capped mountains were beautiful.
