Washita County Vistor’s Center
Oil being very important to Oklahoma’s economy for many years the city has many “pumpers” throughout the city.
As seen by this road marker many travelers headed to California used the California Road.
There is a state park on Foss Lake . . notice here also the low water level.

Guess there were lots of horse shoes around so why not use them in their artwork.

Jo Ann’s first job (while still in high school) was working a PBX like this one at Santa Maria Dairy. We used Mother’s old Maytag for years at our cabin on the Red River.

Early vacuum sweepers were non-electric they used a hand pump.

Rock Bluff school used in area from 1894 to 1976.
The first item moved to the museum was the 6000 sq. ft. home of Mr. & Mrs. O. H. Young. In order to accomplish this move the house was cut in half and moved in the middle of the nigiht tohave the least amount of traffic to deal with. Rumor is that word got out and there were lots of people out to view this move.

These are just a few of the pictures we took at this excellent facility. I’m sure you can see why we spent hours here. It was really hard to get Francis to move on from one exhibit to the next.
