One of the issues of living in the desert is the number of pack rats.  The nest are used to study the area because of their collections over the years .  Here in the park we were advised to put out lights and to raise the hood of our vehicles so they don’t make a nest in the cool darker area.  The only damage we have noticed is they chewed on an electrical cord to our outside lights.

The closest city to us is Lukeville which is 5 miles south and the location of the border crossing into Mexico.  The city where we shop etc. is Ajo, AZ which is about 35 miles north with Why between us and Ajo.  The town square at Ajo is old but nice.

Soon after our arrival we were at the Visitor’s Center and spotted this Harris Hawk.
