July 2012 Trip down west side of gorge

Took a drive on the west side of the Rio Grande gorge to the town of San Antinio, this was some of the switch-backs we drove

Looking down on John Dunn Bridge from the bluff.

 

We are headed for Hwy. 285 on the west side of the Gorge

Came upon an old homestead.  Notice that someone has cut off the ends of the logs.  Rangers patrol to keep people from cutting

off logs for firewood.   Obviously not often enough.

Modern(?) house that we can see from Wildlife Refuge

Aaron’s (one of our rangers) old family cabin.
