We have not been to Rocky Point in about 10 years so decided to go down by car and stay in one of the resorts. On the way down we stopped at El Pinacate, the Mexican Sonora Desert center.
The approx. 41 mile drive through the park was very interesting with lots of volcano craters.
One of the many unusual cuts made by the rushing water.
Often pala verde or other trees act as nursery trees to protect a young cactus from the heat as well as predators. Often the cactus is surrounded by a dead tree.
Flowers were in full bloom in much of the park.
After the drive we visited the visitor’s center at the Schuk Tank
This facility is completely solar powered.
